Okay, real talk: if you haven't had Starrgirl on repeat since August, I need you to fix that before 10 a.m. Ayra Starr just announced the Starrgirl World Tour, a 20-city run for 2027, and general on-sale for North America is today, Friday, October 16 at 10 a.m. local time on LiveNation.com. My alarm is set and my payment info is saved. Here's everything you need to know, plus the setup I'm using to count down to spring.
The dates (and the one California show)
The tour opens in Europe on January 20 in Cologne and wraps that leg at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on February 2. Then it's our turn. According to BroadwayWorld, the North American leg runs from March 18 in Houston to April 14 in San Francisco, with 13 stops in total:
- Houston (Mar 18), Dallas (Mar 19), Atlanta (Mar 21)
- Silver Spring, MD (Mar 24), Boston (Mar 25), Philadelphia (Mar 26), Brooklyn (Mar 28)
- Toronto (Mar 29), Montreal (Mar 30), Chicago (Apr 1), Minneapolis (Apr 2)
- Denver (Apr 5) and San Francisco's The Fillmore (Apr 14)
West Coast friends, that means exactly one California date: the closing night at The Fillmore. That's a small room for an artist this big, so treat this morning like a final exam. One heads-up if you're in the Midwest: the Chicago show at Park West isn't a Live Nation date, so check that venue's own ticketing instead of assuming it's on LiveNation.com with everything else. VIP packages are sold through VIP Nation, and depending on the package they can include a meet and greet, a signed tour poster and early entry.
Why this tour feels like a moment
Ayra has been building to this for a while. She's earned two Grammy nominations for Best African Music Performance, for "Rush" and for "Gimme Dat" with Wizkid, and she's collaborated with Wizkid, Stormzy, Rema and Coldplay. Starrgirl, released August 14, debuted at No. 2 on Spotify's Global Top Albums chart and hit No. 1 on Apple Music's album chart in 15 countries, according to The FADER.
And then there's "Heaven Baby" with ZAYN. As a certified collab girlie, I love when a pairing sounds like nothing either artist would have made alone, and this one does. It's passed 40 million global streams and hit No. 1 on Shazam's Global Viral chart within its first week. The video dropped earlier this month, and yes, I have watched it more times than I'll admit in writing.
My mom raised me on Alanis-era albums you play front to back, so I'm picky about records that hold together. Starrgirl passes that test for me. It's a full listen, not a playlist with a few singles on it.
My countdown setup
A show five months out means plenty of time to live with the album, make some content and maybe even make some music of my own. Here's what I'd set up:
For the front-to-back album listen: the ELAC Debut ConneX powered bookshelf speakers. They have a built-in 2 x 50-watt amp, so there's no separate receiver to deal with. Just plug them in and stream over Bluetooth. There's also HDMI ARC for your TV, so the "Heaven Baby" video gets the same speakers, plus phono, USB and optical inputs, a subwoofer output if you want more low end, and a remote. An album this layered deserves better than a phone speaker.
For your cover or reaction videos: the Roland GO:MIXER STUDIO is a pocket-sized mixer and audio interface made for performance video creators. It has two XLR inputs for mics, onboard EQ, compression and reverb, and a Loop Back function so you can sing along to a backing track playing from your phone. With Roland's GO:MIXER Cam app on iPhone, you can record multitrack audio alongside your video. Your "Rush" cover just got a serious upgrade. Before the show, always check the venue's recording and camera rules. This one is for the bedroom, not the pit.
For making your own beats: if Starrgirl has you wondering how those grooves come together, the Roland AIRA Compact T-8 Beat Machine is a fun, tiny place to start. It's loaded with Roland's classic TR-808, TR-909 and TR-606 drum sounds plus TB-303 bass, with a 16-step sequencer and built-in effects. It also works as a USB-C audio and MIDI interface, so your ideas can go straight into your computer.
Before 10 a.m.
My game plan: log into LiveNation.com now, double-check your payment info and pick a backup date if you can travel. If Chicago is your show, find out where those tickets are actually sold.
If you want your listening or creating setup sorted before tour season, everything above is at Frontrow, and we ship from California with next-day delivery across the continental US. See you in the pit, Starrgirls.
